Our Philosophy
At European Care Group we recognise that the very nature of our business - providing long-term care support to older people, adults with special and complex needs and vulnerable children - creates for us a special responsibility of care at the heart of our community. We accept that responsibility and take it seriously. Taking it seriously leads us to commit to achieving the highest standards of professional care practice. It is our firm belief that we can best reach those standards as a successful business organisation which practices good corporate governance and achieves excellent commercial repute. There is no conflict between the profitability of our company and the interest of our community.
Our Business Values
We believe that professional and personal integrity are crucial to the success of all the Group's operations. We recognise that integrity, in the particular circumstances of our working environment, depends on the behaviour of both the Group corporately and ourselves as individuals. It is the obligation of both to:
- Respect Human Rights
This has added resonance for our Group since we accept challenging responsibilities for the well-being of very vulnerable people whose needs and wants may be difficult to identify. We endeavour to relate to them individually with the utmost care and skill, seeking to understand and meet their personal choices and to ensure their safety. - Promote Good Business Practice
We are committed to extending good corporate governance throughout the Group. We believe that strengthening links with academe will enhance the quality of our work and, in due course, of the lives of those for whom we provide care. - Fit Our Policies and Behaviours to the Communities in Which we
Operate
We respect the diverse cultural and social needs of the communities from which we draw our service users. We must therefore create collaborative relationships with their families and friends and with the public authorities who commission us and assess our work. -
Pay Attention to the Needs of our own Workforce
The provision of long-term care and support is by its nature staff intensive and requiring special skills. We therefore seek to develop our workforce by appropriate recruitment and training; by providing a clear code of conduct for staff which embodies the Group's business values; and by recognising the strains and stresses which our people experience. We aim to support our staff both to draw on the lessons of their own accumulating experience and to think freshly about beneficial new practices made available by research or expert observation. We are Investors in People. We understand the importance of equal opportunities for all.
Our overall aim
These values must inform and influence our working practices and individual behaviour wherever in the Group we are working. The assertion of the Group's values must however be accompanied by a continuing exploration of ways to assess how successful we are at implementing them. The Executive Board and the Supervisory Board will jointly review the evidence of success annually. Our clear overall aim is the achievement of the highest possible standards within the Group. The measure of our success will lie EQUALLY in the satisfaction of our shareholders; the satisfaction of our other stakeholders (users and their supporters, commissioners, assessors, staff, the broader community) and the level of demand for our services.
