Christmas at Larchfield - Father Christmas letter
All four units at Larchfield were given the opportunity to 'write' a Father Christmas letter. Each unit was provided with a large sheet of card, a pile of newspapers and magazines to tear out letters, words and pictures to 'write' their letter listing and the outcome was most interesting. There was lots of discussion about how they used to celebrate Christmas and gifts large and small were listed involving every service user in each unit. One lady didn't want anything material - her wish was to be with her family at Christmas and that wish came true.
Cherwell Unit used the opportunity to make just one simple request - a new television - Howard presented their letter to our Home Manager in the belief that she had a secret line to Father Christmas. Father Christmas immediately got his elves working on the case and in the nick of time a TV was delivered from Lapland via Special Reindeer Delivery - on Christmas Eve staff carried the new TV down the corridor singing 'We wish you a Merry Christmas' and the delight on our service users' faces was memorable. Thank you Father Christmas!
