Dovecote has demonstrated that it has a place at the heart of the community.
In the early hours of Saturday morning, 15th May 2010 Dovecote came to the rescue of the local residents of High Spen when there was a fire in their garages.
The fire had engulfed the garages next to Dovecote, so the local fire brigade had to escort people out of safety. Fifty local residents were evacuated to Dovecote, where the home accommodated them until it was safe to go back home.
The local residents were grateful for the entertainment that Dovecote provided, and showed their appreciation by sending kind words along with cards, flowers and chocolates.
