British Heart Foundation awards Manor House Resident
Fri 08 2010
One of our residents at Manor House,in Oxfordshire, has recently been doing voluntary work at the local British Heart Foundation Shop for the last six months. Her usual time to visit is every Wednesday from 10am-11am, with some sessions going on for a little longer as she will not leave until she completely finishes her job.
Everyone at Manor House, including other residents and staff have been incredibly inspired by this lady, as her work reflects on her behavior. She seemed to have acquired a new personality with raised self-esteem, well being and feeling of belonging that cannot be expressed in words and just shows us all, how fulfilling it can be to help other people.
On Friday the 22nd of July 2010, she was invited to a
celebration party for all the volunteers' that help out at the
Bicester shop, where she was presented with a Certificate of
Achievement.
On being presented with this award the lady`s words were "That's
Brilliant thank you all for having me here"
You can imagine not many dry eyes in the room after such a
touching speech!
The certificate is to take pride of place in the lady's room but at the moment she is keeping a tight grip on it and busy showing to others in the Nursing Home.
What a fantastic achievement and hopefully this will inspire others to get out in the community and feel more included in the day to day running of a Normal working day.
